Jonel Powell, Managing Partner
JP, LLB. (Hons), LEC.
Jonel Powell is the Managing Partner of Grant, Powell & Co. and the Managing Director of its affiliate entity Gibraltar Trust Company. A lawyer by profession, Jonel hails from the Caribbean twin island federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.
Jonel obtained an LLB from the University of the West Indies (Cave Hill) in Barbados and a Legal Education Certificate (LEC) from the Norman Manley Law School in Jamaica. Before establishing Grant, Powell & Co, Jonel worked in the British Overseas Territory of Anguilla for several years.
Jonel served as Ambassador at Large to the Government St. Kitts and Nevis in the Ministries of Sport and Culture. Between 2020 and 2022 Jonel took a sabbatical from GPC after having been elected to the National Assembly and appointed Minister of Education, Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture in the Federal Cabinet.
Jonel's focused areas of practice include corporate structuring and incorporations, trusts, wealth management and estate planning, conveyancing and real estate development, citizenship by investment and commercial law.
